Job Description

SENIOR ELECTRICAL COMPLIANCE ENGINEER

OWN THE CERTIFICATION PATH FOR A SCALING CLEAN-ENERGY PLATFORM

Cypress, California | On-site

$140K–$170K base + benefits and 401(k)

A growing energy-technology manufacturer is seeking a hands-on Senior Electrical Compliance Engineer to support the commercialization and global expansion of complex industrial power-generation systems.

This is not a compliance-coordination role. The engineer hired will work directly with electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, embedded controls, system architecture, test results and certification findings—translating standards into practical design requirements and helping the engineering team implement the necessary changes.

The initial priority is North American certification and market access, with Canadian and European requirements becoming increasingly important as the product platform expands.

What You’ll Own

  • Establish certification strategies, timelines, test plans and technical deliverables for new and existing products.
  • Review electrical designs against applicable product-safety and grid-interconnection requirements.
  • Evaluate grounding, bonding, insulation systems, creepage and clearance, component ratings, wiring practices and protective functions.
  • Work directly with Engineering to identify and resolve design gaps.
  • Lead technical engagement with UL, CSA, Intertek, TÜV and other certification laboratories.
  • Support electrical safety, EMC/EMI and pre-compliance testing, including failure analysis and corrective action.
  • Build practical, repeatable design-for-compliance and certification processes as the company scales.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Approximately 8+ years of electrical engineering, product safety, regulatory compliance or product-certification experience.
  • Direct experience certifying industrial electrical equipment, power electronics, power-conversion systems or similarly complex products.
  • Hands-on ability to review electrical designs—not simply manage the certification process.
  • Working knowledge of North American requirements relevant to industrial power equipment, potentially including IEEE 1547, UL 1741, UL 508A, UL 1004, NFPA 70 and UL 1998.
  • Experience taking a complex electrical product through certification, testing, findings resolution and approval.
  • Direct experience working with an NRTL or certification body.

Experience with grid-connected generators, inverters, industrial control panels, rotating equipment, EMC/EMI mitigation, CSA requirements or CE/IEC/EN standards would be valuable.

This role offers the opportunity to establish how compliance is built into an expanding product platform and directly influence its path into regulated power and industrial markets.
