Manufacturing Coordinator / Planner / Scheduler

Location: Adelanto, CA (On-site)

Position Summary

The Manufacturing Coordinator / Planner / Scheduler is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating production activities to ensure efficient manufacturing operations and on-time order fulfillment. This role manages the master production schedule, coordinates materials and work orders, communicates with purchasing and production teams, and ensures manufacturing capacity is effectively utilized. The position serves as the central link between sales, purchasing, and the production floor. This person must be able to forecast needs and capacity.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Production Scheduling

  • Develop and maintain the daily and weekly production schedule based on incoming orders, production capacity, and material availability.
  • Schedule work centers, machines, and labor to optimize throughput and minimize downtime.
  • Balance workloads across departments to prevent bottlenecks.
  • Adjust schedules in real time when production delays, machine issues, or urgent orders occur.
  • Communicate schedule changes to production supervisors and management.

Production Planning

  • Plan manufacturing activities based on customer orders, forecasts, and inventory levels.
  • Establish production priorities and sequence work orders to meet delivery deadlines.
  • Maintain the master production schedule (MPS) and ensure capacity aligns with order demand.
  • Coordinate long-lead manufacturing tasks and anticipate capacity constraints.

Work Order Management

  • Generate, release, and track work orders through the manufacturing process.
  • Ensure work orders contain correct drawings, specifications, routing steps, and quantities.
  • Monitor work order progress and update production status in the ERP system.
  • Identify delayed orders and coordinate corrective actions to maintain delivery commitments.

Material Coordination

  • Verify material availability prior to scheduling production.
  • Coordinate with purchasing to ensure raw materials and components arrive on time.
  • Track material shortages and adjust schedules accordingly.
  • Maintain visibility of inventory levels and production requirements.

Shop Floor Coordination

  • Communicate production schedules and priorities to supervisors and team leads.
  • Support workflow between departments such as fabrication, assembly, finishing, and shipping.
  • Monitor production progress throughout the day and update schedules as necessary.
  • Assist in resolving production issues that impact schedule performance.

ERP / Production Data Management

  • Maintain production schedules, work orders, and inventory information within the ERP or manufacturing system.
  • Track production output, labor hours, and order completion status.
  • Generate reports on production performance, backlog, and capacity utilization.

Customer Order Coordination

  • Work with sales and customer service teams to confirm delivery timelines.
  • Assist with expediting urgent or high-priority orders when required.

 

Required Skills

  • Strong production scheduling and planning skills
  • Ability to manage multiple production priorities simultaneously
  • Strong communication skills with production teams and management
  • Problem-solving ability in fast-paced manufacturing environments
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Excel
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and workflow

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2–5 years of experience in manufacturing planning, scheduling, or operations coordination
  • Experience using ERP or MRP systems (such as JobBOSS, SAP, NetSuite, etc.)
  • Knowledge of inventory management and capacity planning
