Title: Controller
Location: Southeast Texas (on-site)
Reports To: Chief Financial Officer
We are partnering with a well-established, high-growth manufacturing organization to identify a hands-on Controller who will lead accounting operations and serve as a key partner to the CFO and broader leadership team. This is a highly visible role with direct impact on financial performance, operational decision-making, and the continued build-out of scalable infrastructure.
The Opportunity
This individual will take ownership of the full accounting function while helping to elevate financial rigor across the organization. The role requires a strong operator—someone comfortable in the details but equally capable of stepping back and providing insight to leadership. A core focus will be strengthening cost accounting, improving inventory visibility, and driving process improvements across a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day accounting operations including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, cash management, and reconciliations
- Own the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Build and enhance cost accounting frameworks, including standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation
- Partner closely with operations to analyze production costs, labor efficiency, and plant performance
- Deliver actionable financial reporting and insights, including KPIs, margin analysis, and operational metrics
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and maintain strong internal controls
- Manage external audits, tax processes, and regulatory requirements
- Drive continuous improvement across systems, processes, and reporting capabilities
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning efforts
- Contribute to strategic initiatives such as capital investments, system upgrades, and potential M&A activity
- Build and develop a high-performing accounting team
Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or MBA preferred
- 7–10+ years of progressive experience, including 3–5+ years in a leadership role
- Prior experience in a manufacturing environment required
- Deep expertise in cost accounting, inventory management, and standard costing
- Experience operating in multi-site or multi-entity environments is a plus
- Strong systems orientation, including ERP platforms and advanced Excel
- Proven ability to implement process improvements and strengthen controls
- Analytical, hands-on, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communicator with the ability to partner cross-functionally
