The Opportunity
We are seeking a Director of Internal Communications to lead a strategic "upgrade" of our internal messaging and engagement infrastructure —someone with the technical vision to build a modern intranet, but the emotional intelligence to coach a traditional organization through a digital transition. This is a high-impact, foundational role for a national industry leader currently modernizing its 50-year legacy. Based in our new Frisco headquarters, you will be the primary architect of a communication strategy that connects over 5,000 employees across a distributed network of 3,500+ locations.
The Core Mission (First 6 Months)
- Strategy & Voice: Establish a unified corporate "tone of voice" and a 12-month communications roadmap.
- The Digital Home: Lead the scoping, platform selection, and build-out of a brand-new Intranet & Knowledge Base (targeted for year-end deployment).
- Modernized Calendar: Rebuild and relaunch a consolidated communications calendar that moves the organization away from "Email-Only" messaging.
Key Responsibilities
- Deskless Strategy: Design mobile-first communication "pipes" (iPads, Apps, Video) to reach frontline property personnel who do not have traditional corporate email access.
- Cross-Functional Coaching: Act as a strategic partner to the CHRO, COO, and VP of Operations to "translate" complex operational and policy updates into clear, engaging content.
- Infrastructure Build: Own the Content Management System (CMS) strategy, ensuring all internal documentation and messaging are searchable, organized, and accessible.
- Mixed-Media Production: Champion the use of video and digital pieces to drive engagement beyond traditional text-based memos.
- Team Leadership: Manage an Internal Communications Manager and a contract Project Manager to execute the global communications calendar.
The Ideal Profile
- The "Broad Workforce" Expert: You have a proven track record in organizations with a large, distributed, or deskless workforce (e.g., Retail, Logistics, or Multi-unit Operations).
- The "Platform Builder": You have successfully led at least one major Intranet or Employee App implementation from scoping to launch.
- Collaborative Adaptability: You can work "shoulder-to-shoulder" with everyone from frontline facility managers to C-suite executives in a relatively flat organizational structure.
- The "Coach" Mentality: You are comfortable working within existing operational styles while gently and strategically training the team toward future-state technologies.
- Tactical Scrappiness: You are a forward-planner who can manage a complex project calendar without losing sight of the creative "tone of voice."
Requirements
- 9–12+ years of Internal Communications experience (Director level).
- Experience with Intranet platforms and Content Management Systems.
- (Highly Preferred/Bonus) Experience with mixed media (video production, digital signage, mobile platforms).
- Ability to work on-site in Frisco, TX, with limited quarterly travel.
Compensation & "Signal" Benefits
- Target Total Comp: $180,000 – $200,000
- Comp Breakdown: (Base + 30-40% Target Bonus).
- PTO: 22 days
- Holidays: Competitive package (currently expanding/doubling).
- 401k: Competitive match with 100% vesting after one year.
- Health: Comprehensive benefits kicking in ~60 days from start.
