Overview
Stewardship Development is hiring a Controller to support its growing portfolio of real estate development projects. This is a newly created role due to increased workload at the CFO level and will play a key role in strengthening financial operations across the organization.
The company focuses on mission driven housing development, managing multiple projects from construction through lease up and ongoing operations. This role will partner closely with leadership and have visibility across all active projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee accounting operations across multiple entities, including general ledger, reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes in accordance with GAAP
- Prepare financial reports and elevate reporting for state agencies, lenders, and stakeholders
- Track project budgets, manage construction draws, and support funding requests
- Partner with the development team on pro formas, financial modeling, and sources and uses
- Monitor property and portfolio performance against budgets and projections
- Support cash management, debt tracking, and lender reporting
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and funding requirements
- Coordinate audits, tax filings, and external partners
- Identify and improve accounting systems, processes, and internal controls
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5+ years of progressive accounting or financial management experience
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
- Real estate, development, construction, or property management experience preferred
- LIHTC experience is a plus but not required
