Job Description

Position: Director of Finance & Analytics

Reports to: CFO

About the Company

Curve Dental is a leading dental practice management SaaS platform serving approximately 7,000 dental practices across the United States and Canada. Backed by Battery Ventures, the company operates with multiple business units (Curve, Flex, DentalHQ) and strategic product expansions including embedded payments (Curve Pay) and AI-powered capabilities.

The company is at an inflection point. The complexity of its multi-entity structure, expanding product portfolio, and PE-backed growth trajectory demand a fundamental transformation in how financial intelligence and revenue operations drive the business forward. This is a build-and-lead opportunity, not a maintain-and-report role.

The Opportunity

We are hiring a Director of Finance & Analytics to serve as the CFO’s strategic partner and the architect of a next-generation Finance & Analytics function. This leader will unify FP&A and Revenue Operations under a single vision, fundamentally transforming how the company generates, integrates, and acts on data across three business entities.

The mandate is clear: build the data foundation, deploy modern analytics capabilities including AI and automation, elevate a team of four, and create an insight engine that enables faster, higher-conviction decisions at every level of the organization. The right candidate will see this as a career-defining opportunity to build something from the ground up inside a well-capitalized, fast-growing platform.

Key Responsibilities

Transform Financial Intelligence & Strategic Analytics

•       Reimagine how the company understands its revenue: build a unified, multi-entity ARR bridge that decomposes bookings, expansion, contraction, and churn at the customer, product, and cohort level — replacing fragmented spreadsheets with a scalable analytical framework.

•       Design and deliver the financial models, scenario analyses, and strategic narratives that drive board presentations, investor communications, and capital allocation decisions for Battery Ventures.

•       Pioneer the use of AI and large language models across the company — automating routine analysis, accelerating anomaly detection, building intelligent forecasting models, and creating AI-assisted workflows that multiply the team’s analytical throughput.

•       Lead transformational upsell/downsell and cross-sell analysis that moves beyond backward-looking reporting to predictive, actionable intelligence about customer expansion and contraction patterns across all three platforms.

•       Develop customer segmentation and lifetime value frameworks that reshape how the company thinks about pricing strategy, go-to-market investment, and product prioritization.

•       Serve as the CFO’s analytical thought partner on high-stakes, ambiguous questions — M&A evaluation, competitive positioning, new product economics, vendor negotiations — with the independence and judgment to drive these workstreams with minimal direction.

Architect the Data Foundation

•       Own the vision and execution for a unified data warehouse that brings together Salesforce, HubSpot, Stripe, NetSuite, and Maxio data across all three business entities — creating, for the first time, a single source of truth for the entire organization.

•       Oversee ETL pipelines, data governance standards, and quality assurance processes that eliminate the manual data reconciliation currently constraining the team’s speed and accuracy.

•       Build a modern BI and reporting layer, establishing self-service dashboards and automated reporting that shift the function from reactive report generation to proactive business intelligence.

•       Identify and deploy AI-powered data quality, enrichment, and integration tools that accelerate the path from raw data to decision-ready insight.

•       Make strategic build-vs-buy decisions for analytics infrastructure, manage vendor relationships, and oversee contract data engineering resources to ensure the technical buildout stays on track and on budget.

•       Establish company-wide data dictionaries and metric definitions that create organizational alignment on how key SaaS metrics are calculated, interpreted, and acted upon.

Elevate Revenue Operations

•       Transform pipeline analytics from descriptive reporting into a predictive engine: build lead scoring models, win/loss analysis frameworks, and AI-enhanced forecasting that materially improves forecast accuracy and deal velocity.

•       Own and modernize commission calculation, quota modeling, and sales capacity planning — replacing manual processes with scalable, auditable systems.

•       Build marketing channel attribution and customer acquisition cost frameworks that provide clear, defensible ROI analysis for every go-to-market dollar spent.

•       Drive Salesforce and HubSpot data hygiene and process compliance, establishing the standards and accountability mechanisms that ensure data integrity across the revenue technology stack.

Build & Develop a High-Performance Team

•       Lead and develop three direct reports (FP&A Analyst, RevOps Manager, RevOps Analyst), raising the overall functional maturity from its current state to best-in-class for a company at this stage and scale.

•       Establish clear workflows, quality standards, and review cadences that ensure consistently excellent output without requiring CFO intervention on day-to-day analysis.

•       Foster a culture of intellectual curiosity, continuous improvement, and AI-forward thinking — ensuring the team embraces emerging tools and techniques rather than relying solely on legacy approaches.

•       Transform the function’s identity from reactive reporting to proactive strategic partnership, where the team is generating insights and recommendations before leadership has to ask for them.

Required Qualifications

•       6–10 years of progressive experience in FP&A, strategic finance, or management consulting (MBB, Big 4, or top-tier boutique), with meaningful exposure to SaaS business models and a track record of building or transforming analytical capabilities.

•       2–3 years of direct people management experience with demonstrated ability to develop analytical talent and raise team performance.

•       Deep fluency in SaaS financial metrics: ARR, NRR, GRR, LTV/CAC, cohort analysis, unit economics, Rule of 40 — with the ability to explain what the numbers mean, not just calculate them.

•       Strong working knowledge of data warehousing concepts, ETL processes, and the modern analytics stack — able to architect, spec, and manage a buildout even if not writing the code personally.

•       Demonstrated enthusiasm for and practical experience with AI tools (large language models, AI-assisted analytics, automation platforms) applied to financial analysis, reporting, or operational workflows.

•       Advanced Excel and 3rd party dashboard (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI) skills with the ability to build complex models and dashboards from scratch.

•       Hands-on experience with at least 3 of the following: Salesforce, HubSpot, Stripe, NetSuite, Maxio (or comparable billing/subscription management platforms).

•       Experience operating in a PE-backed environment with comfort preparing board materials, investor presentations, and lender compliance reporting.

•       Exceptional communication skills with the ability to distill complex analysis into clear, actionable narratives for both financial and non-financial audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

•       MBA from a top-tier program or CFA designation.

•       Prior experience in management consulting, especially engagements focused on commercial due diligence, operational improvement, or data/analytics transformation.

•       Investment banking experience, particularly in technology or healthcare services verticals.

•       Experience with dental, healthcare, or vertical SaaS industries.

•       Familiarity with SQL and/or Python for data analysis (not required to be a developer, but able to query and manipulate data independently).

•       Experience integrating financial reporting across multiple acquired entities post-M&A.

•       Track record of standing up a data warehouse or BI function from a low-maturity starting point.

•       Demonstrated experience deploying AI/ML models or AI-powered tools within a finance or analytics organization to drive measurable efficiency gains or analytical breakthroughs.

Compensation & Benefits

This role offers a competitive total compensation package commensurate with experience and market benchmarks for PE-backed SaaS companies at this stage.

•       Base salary: $170,000–$195,000 depending on experience and qualifications.

•       Performance bonus: Target 15–25% of base, tied to company performance and individual objectives.

•       Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision, and 401(k).

•       Hybrid work arrangement based in Atlanta with flexibility for strong remote candidates within a direct flight.
