The company has 50+ years in designing and manufacturing custom optical filters, coatings, and components to enhance electronic displays and lighting. They specialize in improving performance for military, medical, industrial, and aerospace applications by providing EMI/RFI shielding, contrast enhancement, touchscreen, and ruggedization solutions.Their work involves solving complex, meaningful challenges - often serving as an extension of their customers’ engineering departments - to deliver high-reliability, innovative products.

  Summary:

Effectively manage new and existing, profitable products and services and associated Engineering activities in support of business development. Help drive the success of the business development, prototyping, and qualification efforts with customers, manufacturers’ representatives, and various departments. Provide customers with technical and design support on an ongoing basis throughout initial stages of new programs until mature. Fully support the New Business Development (NBD), Sales, and Engineering.

  Responsibilities and Key Deliverables/Results include:
  • Responsible as the primary engineer for programs/customers with support from other resources/engineers as needed; and provide back-up support to the Sales team members.
  • Coordinate and participate in informal and formal design reviews and costing functions. 
  • Transition customer inputs into design concepts and further into development of quotes, samples, prototypes, and low-rate builds.   
  • Applications focus to include responsibility for supporting the development and implementation of new business strategies.  
  • Effectively manage time and travel, up to 30% required, to support Engineering and Sales efforts. This travel will involve overnight and may include occasional weekend travel. Travel is related to, but not limited to, trade shows, seminars, and visits to new and existing customers. 
  • Contribute to strategic account profiles/database readily accessible to the entire relevant Team, to include but not limited to contacts (scanned business cards), organizational chart, programs, drawings, literature, quote history with win/loss/order history, penetration within account/program/total account potential/value, life of programs and all major/relevant communications.  
  • Contribute to monthly scorecard for top/key accounts and targets within assigned accounts inclusive of design and development activities. 
  Skills Required for the Position:
  • Technical Acumen:  Strong technical background to accurately understand customer requirements and collaborate effectively with internal technical teams.
  • Trade Show and Lead Generation Support:  Ability to interact with potential leads at industry trade shows, helping sales to ensure customer engagement and conversion of opportunities.
  Must Have Experience:
  • Engineering Experience:  At least 3 to 5 years of experience doing hands-on engineering in a manufacturing environment including exposure to manufacturing processes, work instructions, and standard operating procedures.
  • Project Management:  3 to 5 years of proven successful project management and development responsibility preferred.
  • Technical Background:  Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Optical, Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical, etc.) or similar technical degree or combined associate degree and extensive work experience.
  • Industry Experience:  At least 3 years at a manufacturer of products involving LCD display, EMI shielding, or optics, preferably a manufacturer of custom products for the military, aerospace, avionics, or medical instrumentation markets.
