OPPORTUNITY

First Medical Associates is looking for a Staff Accountant interested in working at a small, rapidly growing company. This position will report directly to the Accounting Manager, Controller, or CFO. The Staff Accountant will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment using QuickBooks, but eventually transitioning to a stronger accounting module and system. The staff accountant will be instrumental in this selection and transition. The option to work from home may be available, but the candidate must also be willing to commute to the office frequently (Germantown, MD) one/two times per week or as needed.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary internal finance support contact for the company, working closely with the external accounting team (in advance of hiring a CFO and full internal team) and leadership to support accounting and reporting processes.
  • Coordinate information flow from internal systems (e.g., bank, payroll, EMR, vendor portals) and maintain organized access credentials and tracking logs.
  • Assist in onboarding and managing vendors, ensuring proper documentation (W-9, ACH forms) and supporting invoice intake and coding by location.
  • Support management with the tracking and payment of accounts payable
  • Support the monthly close process by preparing checklists, retrieving outstanding data (invoices, contracts, bank statements), and assisting with reconciliations under guidance.
  • Help maintain the company’s accounting records in QuickBooks Online, including categorization of transactions and supporting journal entry documentation.
  • Support implementation and tracking of key balance sheet schedules (prepaids, accruals, fixed assets, deferred revenue) in coordination with OakBridge.
  • Maintain organized supporting files for audit readiness, including GL substantiation, vendor contracts, leases, and revenue support.
  • Work with OakBridge and leadership to refine the chart of accounts and develop documentation for recurring processes. Contribute to documentation and process design to institutionalize finance workflows for future hires (e.g., controller or CFO).
  • Review EMR cash posting to bank statement reconciliations performed by external revenue cycle team and other revenue cycle related financial controls
  • Assist with ad hoc finance operations projects, such as lender reporting, board packages, or data pulls for strategic initiatives.

 

 

 

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field

• 2 – 4 years of experience in finance or accounting

• Willing to work independently and as a member of a team

• Detail orientation with a sense of urgency, accuracy, and ownership of work product

• Strong organization, time management, and communication skills

• Experience with Sage Intacct, Excel, and Smartsheet preferred

• Experience with multi-entity structure and medical services preferred

 

Job Type: Full-time 40 hours/week

Salary: $80,000 - $95,000/year DOE (plus bonus opportunities)
