POSITION DESCRIPTION  

 

 

Position: Facility Designer  

Location: Denver, CO  

Department: Marketing  

Reports To: Director of Facility Design 

FLSA: Exempt, Salary 

Compensation: $78,000- $83,000 annually

 

 

PURPOSE

The Facility Designer drives, reinforces, and evolves the company brand experience through overall club design standards, quality reviews ensuring consistency throughout all clubs to attract new members and deepen the emotional connection people have with our brand. This person understands overall design and construction with the ability to collaborate and coordinate vision and maintain design intent.


The Facility Designer will support all partnerships, driving successful cross functional relationships and design integration within and outside the organization. They will support the company in launching new and remodel clubs on time, within budget, while maintaining standards and quality.


KEY DELIVERABLES

  •        Review existing site conditions and architectural drawings to generate space plans for new and existing gyms based on prototype standards.
  •        Coordinate with architects/designers and engineers to complete construction documents for permitting.
  •        Responsible for quality control of all design documents and ensure compliance and consistency with the company standards.
  •        Prepare internal Sketch Up models to Invision overall design including color palette, floor materials, graphics, and signage.
  •        Create or coordinate with architect to provide exterior renderings for internal review studies, landlord approvals, and social media announcements.
  •        Produce the company internal plans (Fitness Equipment Layouts, Paint, AVIT, and Flooring) to assist with owner provided order placement and General Contractors to help understand complexity and planning specifics of our club design.
  •        Coordinate with the brand team on graphics, room signage, and instructional sign placement to tie overall design and brand standards together for graphic installers.
  •        Facilitates efforts internally with design team, operations, marketing, and externally with architect to evolve and maintain prototype standards and updates. Ensures design and brand standards improve over time to satisfy members and maintain competitive advantage.
  •        Prepare and manage schedules with internal and external milestones using the company project management tools.
  •        Collaborate with the Development Team to manage design phase and ensure construction team has what they need during construction.
  •        Coordinate with Development and Operations to ensure realistic timelines and expectations are met in relation to new club and remodel openings.
  •        Supports General Contractor with construction administration that includes shop drawings, submittals, RFIs and site visits as needed.
  •        Partner with Facilities to assist in remodel and refresh projects on existing gyms.
  •        Ability to assist with CAD standards: creating blocks, updating template, and creating how to document for standardization.
  •        Partner with Procurement to research FFE (Furniture, Finishes, and Equipment) as required to improve overall design durability and brand standards.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

  •        Bachelor’s degree in architecture, Interior Design or related field.
  •        7-10 years of demonstrated experience in commercial, hospitality or retail design.
  •        Experience working with internal and external design and construction teams and the ability to work on multiple simultaneous projects.
  •        Excellent design development and execution skills.
  •        Open-minded to new approaches and ability to think outside the box.
  •        Optimistic mindset with a roll-up-your sleeves attitude.
  • ·       Excellent relationship management, communication and presentation skills.
  •        Organization and time management skills.
  •        Strong leadership skills and proven ability to communicate the why and how.
  •        Naturally collaborative, with the desire to grow and leverage relationships at all levels.
  •        Extremely strong verbal and written communication skills.
  •        Self-motivated with a high degree of ownership, sense of urgency, and ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
  •        Ability to multi-task, solve problems and stay extremely organized in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.
  •        Passion for fitness and bringing healthy living to as many people as possible.
  •        Proficient in AutoCAD, Sketch Up, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  •        Proficient in ASANA is a plus.


KEY COMPETENCIES

  •         Technical Skills: Proficiency in design software AutoCAD, Sketch Up, Bluebeam, as well as knowledge of drawings and building codes.
  •        Space Planning: Adept at organizing space, considering functionality, and optimizing layouts to meet the company standards.
  •         Attention to Detail: Ability to focus on both the small and important details while completing a task. 
  •         Communication: Effective communication is crucial for interacting with internal teams, contractors, and outside consultants

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  •        Work is typically done in a club with varying hours based on business needs.
  •        While performing the club duties of this job, the team member is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the environment is occasionally loud.
  •        Ability to work a varied schedule to support the needs of the business, including frequent extended workdays, weekends and holidays may be required.

 

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS

  •         Physical Stamina: Ability to handle physical tasks, including lifting and working in various environments.
  •         Talking: Especially where one must frequently convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  •         Physical Strength: Non-Sedentary work, standing and walking most of the time. Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move a minimum of 50 pounds.
  •         Reasoning Ability: Ability to deal with a variety of variables under limited standardization. Able to interpret various instructions and relay instructions to clients
  •         Attendance: This is an essential duty of the position. Employees must work regularly scheduled shifts during business hours to assist members and sell services in-person.
  •        Being a Facilities Project Coordinator, you play a crucial role in ensuring that vendor services support the smooth and efficient operation of a facility. This role requires a mix of technical expertise, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and people effectively.
